WJOL Classic At Minooka
Tied after seven innings, Minooka advanced to semifinals via tournament tiebreaker of most team strikeouts–Minooka struck out six to Lockport’s four. Reliever Ryan Jarka got Minooka (3-3-1) out of bases-loaded jam with strikeout and pop-up in fifth and pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Senior contributed at plate with RBI on squeeze bunt in bottom of fifth. Junior Bryan Wellner hit solo homer for Minooka’s only hit. Lefty Steve Sabatino went distance for Lockport (1-2-1). Matt Shilney went 3-for-4 for Porters.

WJOL Classic At Minooka
Providence ace Brian Stroud struck out five to improve record to 1-1. Tom Barry went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs for Celtics (2-3). Jake Ruettiger went 2-for-4 with solo homer, 2 RBIs and four runs scored. Senior Andy Athans went 2-for-3 with RBI and run scored for Knights (2-2). Celtics faced Minooka in Saturday semifinal at Minooka.
