Evanston police are investigating three armed robberies of taxi drivers since Thursday.
A man and a woman with a knife robbed a taxi driver in the 2300 block of Brown Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, and a man with a gun robbed a driver in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue about an hour before that, Acting Police Chief Joseph Bellino said Tuesday.
Bellino said a man with a gun also robbed a taxi driver in the 1900 block of Wesley Avenue shortly after midnight Thursday.
He said in each robbery the taxi was called to pick up a fare and the driver was robbed upon arrival. Cash and a cell phone were taken in the robberies, and none of the taxi drivers was injured, Bellino said.
