“A RAISIN IN THE SUN” (star)(star)(star)1/2
7 p.m., TCM
From 1961, a very fine and strongly acted, if somewhat stagebound, adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry’s great, moving African-American family drama. Set in Chicago and directed by Daniel Petrie, with a fantastic cast headed by Sidney Poitier (above) as the discontented, fiery head of the house. Supporting him: Ruby Dee, Claudia McNeil, Diana Sands and Lou Gossett.

“WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP”
(star)(star)(star)
9 p.m., TVL
Four years after “Bull Durham,” writer-director Ron Shelton traded the dugout for street-ball hoop dreams in this trash-talking basketball comedy from 1992. Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson take each other on, and then take on a bunch of other guys, while Rosie Perez bones up for a shot on “Jeopardy!” and Tyra Ferrell, in one memorable bit of dialogue, complains about living in the Vista View apartments, which fail to offer a vista, a view, or a view of a vista.
