Some Republicans apparently aren’t happy with the 10 GOP presidential candidates for 2008, so they’re pushing for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to throw her hat into the ring. “That’s what’s wrong with the current crop — it’s like a flat Diet Coke — there’s no fizz, there’s no excitement,” says Wes Fowler, the Illinois chairman and research director of “Think Condi,” which has 22 chapters nationally. “We believe the one to inject the adrenaline in is Condoleezza Rice.”
There’s one major hurdle: Rice has said she isn’t interested. That hasn’t stopped the “Think Condi” folks from making T-shirts and buttons (including “I Like Rice”).
“We’ve analyzed every single time she’s said ‘no’ and she’s said it about a million different ways,” concedes Fowler. But, hey, so did Barack Obama.
