Wesley J. Fuerst, of Lisle, IL, died on May 14, 2007. He was born on Oct. 23, 1930, in Wilcox, Nebraska, the son of John D. and Leona A. Fuerst. He is survived by three children: Elizabeth (Trey) Longoria of Orange, TX, John (Susanne) Fuerst of Bloomfield, MI; Joel (Lori) Fuerst of Glen Ellyn, IL; their mother, Betty Fuerst of Lisle, IL; one brother, J. Larry (Carol) Fuerst of Lincoln, Nebraska; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Wesley graduated from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Central Seminary in 1954, also in Fremont, and in 1958 a Doctor of Theology degree in Old Testament Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. He was ordained into the Lutheran Ministry in 1958 and began his teaching career at Central Seminary in Fremont. In 1962, he accepted a call to the mission field in Argentina, teaching at the Facultad Luterana de Theologia in Buenos Aires. He taught again briefly at Central Seminary, which then merged with the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. He continued his teaching career at that institution until his retirement in 1998. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 3 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church of LaGrange, 200 N. Catherine at Ogden Avenue, LaGrange Illinois.
