No. 2 Glenbard West at Lyons
When:
7:30 p.m. Friday.
Records:
Glenbard West 2-0, Lyons 1-1.
Helfgot’s take:
I’ll give Lyons a mulligan for last week’s 28-0 loss to Downers Grove South. I won’t give the Lions a chance to beat the Hilltoppers twice in a row.
Helfgot’s pick:
Glenbard West 24-10.
Crystal Lake South at No. 14 Cary-Grove
When:
7:15 p.m. Friday.
Records:
Crystal Lake South 2-0, Cary-Grove 2-0.
Helfgot’s take:
Trojan and Gator Nations will be out in force for the big-time rivalry game. The teams have given up a total of 13 points combined. South snapped Cary-Grove’s run of six straight Fox Valley titles in 2010.
Helfgot’s pick:
Cary-Grove 10-3.
Rolling Meadows at Schaumburg
When:
7:30 p.m. Friday.
Records:
Rolling Meadows 1-1, Schaumburg 2-0.
Helfgot’s take:
Rolling Meadows won its opener despite giving up 49 points. Schaumburg gave up 41 in its Week 2 win. These may not be the best teams in the Mid-Suburban League, but their get-together should be entertaining.
Helfgot’s pick:
Schaumburg 38-37.
Peoria Richwoods at No. 4 Joliet Catholic
When:
7:30 p.m. Friday.
Records:
Joliet Catholic 2-0, Peoria Richwoods 0-2.
Helfgot’s take:
Unusual nonconference matchup of teams that met in the playoffs the past two years. I’m doubting Richwoods’ ability to stop Malin Jones and Ty Isaac.
Helfgot’s pick:
Joliet Catholic 42-21.
T.F. North at Tinley Park
When:
7 p.m. Friday.
Records:
T.F. North 2-0, Tinley Park 2-0.
Helfgot’s take:
Calvin Lindsey accounted for eight touchdowns for T.F. North last week, four each by land and air. Kyle Sheridan had seven in two games for Tinley Park.
Helfgot’s pick:
Tinley Park 40-38.
