American Express Travel puts the Caribbean, Brazil and Mexico on sale for fall and winter travel. There are lots of discounted resorts to choose from, which could make for a nice snow-free vacation before the first flake hits the ground.
The deal:
sale features resorts in the Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Jamaica, Barbados, St. Lucia as well as Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa and Cancun in Mexico and Mata de Sao Joao in Brazil. Some offers come with extras such as spa and resort credits. You don’t have to be a member of the rewards program to get these deals, but you’ll score double points for stays if you are.
When: Travel is good through Feb. 28 but must be reserved by Oct. 16.
Tested: There are many properties to choose from in this sale, so it really depends on where you want to go and how much you want to spend.
I looked at one of the cheaper properties in Jamaica as the basis for a Thanksgiving trip Nov. 20 to 24.
in Negril fit the bill. It showed availability for a room — $205 for garden side, $292 for beach side — for all four nights, including tax. (Yes, that’s four nights, not per night.) Meals and airfare are extra, of course.
