Jan 12 (TheWrap.com) – A fire sprinkler was reportedly set off or burst outside the Beverly Hilton midday Sunday, turning the Golden Globes red carpet into a wet mess.
Though the stars hadn’t yet begun to arrive, several journalists and a few other folks who had already checked in at the event tweeted photos and other details from the soggy scene.
Among them was Fandango chief correspondent Dave Karger, who tweeted this image of the ‘red sea’:
IMDB managing editor Keith Simonton, who’d been tweeting from the venue since Sunday morning, said the cause was a light that was set up too close to a sprinkler head, triggering the gusher.
Cleanup was under way just after 1 p.m., Simonton tweeted, with the stars expected to flood the carpet just a few hours later.
It wasn’??t immediately clear what, if any, impact the mess would have on the festivities.
