BARBARA SWANSON NAMED DIRECTOR OF RECRUITMENT ADVERTISING FOR CHICAGO TRIBUNE
CHICAGO, June 18, 2001 – Barbara Swanson, director of Major Accounts for food, drug, discount and home goods, has been named director of Help Wanted Advertising, announced Dennis Grant, vice president of Advertising Sales and Marketing for the Chicago Tribune.
“Barbara led the food category to record highs both as sales manager and director and has received two Chesser M. Campbell awards for advertising sales, the Tribune’s highest advertising honor,” said Grant. “We believe she will bring this same leadership and creativity to our very important Help Wanted Advertising category.”
Swanson has been with the Tribune for more than two decades. Prior to being named director of Major Accounts in January 2000, Swanson was food, drug, and discount advertising manager. She also served as general manager of Chicago Tribune Values Magazine and customer development manager in the Chicago Tribune’s Operations and Circulation Department. Swanson joined the Chicago Tribune in 1979. She holds a BA from Michigan State University and a MBA in Marketing from Loyola University.
