A man accused of robbing a Waukegan bank twice in a week was in custody Monday and appeared in federal court in Chicago on Tuesday to face bank robbery charges, Waukegan police said.

The FBI on Tuesday identified 48-year-old Donald Reddick, of the 2400 block of Dugdale Road in Waukegan, as the man suspected of robbing the Fifth Third Bank branch in the 800 block of Waukegan Road on Aug. 3 and Aug. 10.

Reddick was arrested Monday, authorities said, hours after the the bank was robbed for the second time.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Fitzpatrick said Reddick has been charged with one count of bank robbery in connection with the Aug. 10 incident.

Reddick appeared Tuesday morning before U.S. Magistrate Geraldine Brown in federal court in Chicago, where he waived his detention hearing and was remanded to custody, Fitzpatrick said. No new court date has been set and bond information wasn’t immediately available.

Waukegan police officials said they expect Reddick will also be charged in connection with the Aug. 3 robbery. Federal authorities, however, did not confirm that Tuesday. On the FBI’s Bandit Tracker website, security photos from the Aug. 3 and 10 robberies were posted together under the same bank robbery profiles.

The most recent robbery, police said, was reported around 1:45 p.m. Monday. A black man with facial hair wearing a blue White Sox baseball cap, black-frame glasses and a green T-shirt entered the bank and demanded money, according to police and the FBI’s Bandit Tracker website.

He was arrested later Monday and transported early Tuesday to federal court, Waukegan police Cmdr. Joe Florip said.

After the first robbery, police said, officers were looking for a suspect described as a black man, about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 140 pounds. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said last week. The offender, wearing a black baseball cap with a red brim, did not display a weapon during the Aug. 3 robbery, police said.
