A house fire on Saturday in Lake Forest caused an estimated $50,000 in damage, according to the Lake Forest Fire Department.

Firefighters were called at 5 p.m. to a fire in the southwest portion of the city, and arrived to find gray smoke coming from the attic at the back of the house, according to a fire department press release.

“There was a big sun room,” Fire Chief Pete Siebert said. “Putting a ladder up to the back of the house was made challenging by the sun room, which jutted out.”

Lake Bluff, Knollwood, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Countryside, North Chicago, and Deerfield fire departments assisted, according to the press release. Firefighters took about 45 minutes to put out the fire, it said.

One firefighter received a minor injury, Siebert said.

“A piece of drywall and insulation came crashing down,” Siebert said. “He didn’t have to seek medical attention.”
