Will County applicants are being sought to replace New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann who recently resigned from the Metra board of directors.

Baldermann, who announced his run for Illinois State Senate District 37, resigned from the board earlier this month. The 11-member Metra board is made up of representatives in the six collar counties.

In a news release, WIll County Executive Larry Walsh praised Baldermann’s service on the board and said he was “an important voice” for Will County residents on the Metra board.

The Metra board meets monthly.

“As one of the fastest growing counties in Illinois and an important player in the global transportation network, it is critical Will County has a strong voice on the Metra board,” Walsh said in the news release. “Many of our residents depend on public transportation on a daily basis and we are dedicated to ensuring this service continues to grow in Will County.”

Those interested in applying to represent the county on the Metra board should email a cover letter and resume to the attention of Robin Tyda at rmtyda@willcountyillinois.com by Sept. 9. Walsh plans to recommend someone for the appointment and the county board will vote on his pick. A vote on the recommendation could come as early as November.
