The body of a man who went missing while swimming after a detached boat in Bass Lake has been recovered, officials said Friday.
Anthony Cohn, 37, was standing on a sandbar when the boat’s anchor got detached and it floated away. He swam after it, going into deeper waters. He went underwater and did not resurface, authorities said.
The Bass Lake Fire Department found his body around 6 a.m. Friday near where he was last seen, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said in a release.
Indiana Conservation Officers responded and were assisted by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department and Starke County Coroner’s Office.
