Garrett Ciszewski, a member of the Hobart Police Department since 2002, was sworn in Monday as the city’s new police chief by Mayor Brian Snedecor.
Ciszewski, 44, had served as assistant chief/captain under former Chief Rick Zormier since March 2013.
Zormier retired after 29 years with the department, nine years as chief. His last day on the job was Jan. 7, but because he will be on the books until August due to accumulated time Snedecor said Ciszewski will serve as acting chief in the interim.
“I’m looking forward to leading a great group of (officers), whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with for the past 20 years,” Ciszewski said. “There are always challenges, but through our recruiting efforts, we’ve been fortunate to get a great group of officers.”
