The following items were taken from Deerfield police department reports, news releases and records. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
DOMESTIC BATTERY
Vito Accardi, 53, of Northbrook, was charged with domestic battery and violation of an order of protection, as well as apprehended on a Cook County warrant for a different violation of an order of protection Jan. 8. Deerfield police received a report of a physical occurrence involving Accardi in a parking lot in the 300 block of South Waukegan Road. Upon arriving, officers learned he left the scene. Police spotted the vehicle in which Accardi was traveling and followed it to a home in the 2000 block of Beechnut Road in unincorporated Northbrook. Police also learned there was an active warrant in Cook County for Accardi’s arrest. He was transported to the Cook County courthouse in Skokie Jan. 9 pending transport to the Cook County courthouse in Chicago for a bond hearing.
DUI
Dustin Duckworth of Waukegan was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding, failure to signal a lane change, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle Jan. 11. Police clocked Duckworth driving 51 mph in a 35-mph zone in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road, stopping him near the intersection of Waukegan and Half Day roads. Police smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Duckworth. He failed a field sobriety test and recorded a 0.269 blood alcohol level. He was released on bond, and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court Feb. 16 in Waukegan.
