How are you going to like it when walking down the street, eating in your favorite restaurant, going shopping, doing just about anything, every other person (or more) has a gun strapped to their hip. If it makes you nervous, makes you feel intimidated, then you probably have no one to blame but yourself for voting for Republicans who then voted to confirm Justices who make these absurd, irrational decisions. Congress, remember has just voted to give them security not available to the rest of us. It’s so incredibly stupid that our country has come to this. The rest of the world simply cannot believe what’s going on here.

Dear Monkeypox, We have enough problems, thanks. Regards, Gary, Indiana

The best thing about Joe Biden being president is that Donald Trump is not.

A justice who refuses to recuse himself even from a case affecting his own wife. A justice accused of actions the FBI refused to investigate, and confirmed after very likely perjuring himself. A justice with very little experience as a judge, called “marginally qualified” by legal experts. No wonder the public is showing less and less respect for the Supreme Court.

It would be nice if the Republicans downstate would give everyone the $125 BEFORE they add MORE taxes to our gas prices. We still haven’t received ours and know of many more people that haven’t received theirs either.

It only took a global pandemic and one million Americans dying to drop gas prices to $2 bucks a gallon and the government infusing $9 billion into the economy to give your 401k a boost. If you think the former guy is praise worthy because of this, go ahead I guess. He is not exactly my idea of a great president, but I guess some will dig deep to find anything positive in a horrendous situation.

Many of those former Trump officials testifying before the January 6th Commission make it clear that Trump very likely committed criminal acts. Nonetheless, most of them say that if Trump is the GOP candidate in 2024 they will vote for him rather than for “some progressive,” as though being a progressive or Democrat is a worse crime than anything Trump has done. These people were unprincipled when they worked for Trump. They are unprincipled now. Don’t make heroes out of these villains because they told a tiny amount of truth.

Lake County 911 Director Mark Swiderski is a narcissist playing with police officers, and the public’s, lives. Trying to merge dispatchers is only going to put a much larger burden on them. When you have the police chiefs (and a mayor), of the affected departments, publicly speak out against it, I think you should listen. This isn’t going to end well.

Hang on a second: Were there people who were unaware that Honey’s was a front for prostitution? Have you seen that place? Also, what do the police think this is going to accomplish? At least at Honey’s the sex workers were somewhere (relatively) safe and indoors. Closing that place doesn’t make the sex workers go away, it just moves them to somewhere else, away from the eyes of people who can protect them and into much riskier situations, such as into stranger’s homes and back seats. Sex workers deserve be protected, prostitution should be legalized and regulated. Nobody wins here.

Donald Trump does not respect our democracy, he does not want a democratic government and he would love to replace it with an autocracy — with him at the top and his children to follow him. He’d love to be able to do whatever he wants without answering to voters or elected representatives. Total control is what he wants, just like Putin and Orban and all of the other pseudo dictators. No free press, no freedom for citizens, no due process and no real voting rights. The people that support him are not patriots. They are gullible fools that are mesmerized by a con man and his constant lies and supported by a television network owned by an Australian.

You won’t see any solutions to the nation’s problems come from Republicans, as their goal is to obstruct and hinder the Biden administration, regardless of the suffering inflicted on the American people. Their end game is to win a majority of the mid-term elections, so all we will get is the standard Republican mantra of more guns and less places to vote. Trump was willing to use lies, intimidation, slander, and phony electoral votes to stay in office, so it follows the Republican party will use every dirty trick in the book to regain power, and if the American people have to pay the cost, the Republican elite couldn’t care less.
