The following items were taken from Highland Park police department clerk reports, news releases and records. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

DUI

Herberto Moreno Alanis, 43, of the 7000 block of North California Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving without a valid license Oct. 28. He was arrested after police responded to a well-being check in the 500 block of Hyacinth Place and found him asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court Dec. 2 in Waukegan.

Javier S. Gallardo, 30, of the 1600 block of McKay Street in Waukegan, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and speeding Oct. 29. He was arrested after a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley road. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court Dec. 9 in Waukegan.

Timothy P. Vacala, 35, of the 100 block of South Canal Street in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid license, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, making an improper stop at a traffic signal and failure to signal when required Oct. 30. He was arrested after police stopped him for traffic violations near the intersection of Skokie Valley and Clavey roads. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court Dec. 2 in Waukegan.

WARRANT APPREHENSION

William E. Earl, 50, of the 4000 block of South Calumet Avenue in Chicago, was apprehended on a failure to appear warrant issued in Douglas County. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Douglas County Court Dec. 2 in Tuscola.

BURGLARY

Someone made his way into a home in the 200 block of North Deere Park Drive saying he was there to check the water Oct. 8. After the man left, the resident reported jewelry, cash and tickets to various places were missing.

A man attempted to enter a residence in the 2100 Block of Tennyson Lane and lure the resident into the backyard while four other men waited in a vehicle in the driveway Oct. 26. The resident became suspicious and told the men to leave. They did.

THEFT

A bicycle charger, a bicycle helmet, a rain jacket, a combination lock and a jacket were reported stolen from a shared bicycle room at a residence in the 1500 block of Oakwood Avenue between Oct. 2 and 23.

A man entered a retail business in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, put 10 bottles of alcoholic beverages into a duffle bag and left without paying Oct. 27. The value of the merchandise was $488.

Four unknown men exited vehicles in the 1400 block of Old Deerfield Road taking catalytic converters from two vehicles and cutting part of a catalytic converter from a third vehicle Oct. 30.

Catalytic converters were stolen from two vehicles in the 1400 block of Old Skokie Road Oct. 30.
