Calumet City Police said Friday they are investigating the shooting death of a 21-year-old man.
Police said the ShotSpotter alert system, which detects and relays information to police about gunfire, prompted a response at 11:35 p.m. Thursday to the 10 block of Jennifer Lane.
The victim was found with gunshot wounds and responders provided lifesaving measures at the scene before he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
He was identified as Aaryon Wilson, of that Jennifer Lane address, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Calumet City police said their detectives are being aided by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and that anyone with information should contact Calumet City investigators at 708-868-2500.
