A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in the West Pullman neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The boy was walking in the 12200 block of South Sangamon Street around 4:55 p.m. when a dark gray Nissan approached him, police said. The front passenger of the car took out a gun and fired several shots at the teen.

He sustained a gunshot wound to the back, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

No one was in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
