Exit ramp closures ongoing for high friction surface treatment

The Indiana Department of Transportation contractor RAM Construction Services is conducting high friction surface treatment, which is designed to decrease road slippage for motorists exiting the interstate, on seven off-ramps along I-94 and I-65.

While work on the southbound I-65 to U.S. 231 ramp is complete, the ramps on eastbound I-94 to southbound Calumet Ave and eastbound I-94 to northbound S.R. 152/Indianapolis Blvd are currently closed.

Closures are planned in the next week for eastbound I-94 to northbound U.S. 41/Calumet Ave ramp, eastbound I-94 to northbound Burr Street ramp; southbound I-65 to Ridge Road ramp; and eastbound I-94 to northbound Kennedy Avenue.

Each ramp is expected to close for 2-3 days while the treatment is applied and will reopen as soon as the material has cured. This work is extremely weather dependent so the schedule is likely to change over the course of the project. Motorists are encouraged to watch for signage in the area of these ramps or check 511in.org for updated information.

Ramp closures to change along eastbound I-94

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Superior Construction Co Inc will change ramp closures on I-94 eastbound between State Road 912/Cline Ave and I-65 next week.

The ramps from northbound and southbound State Road 912/Cline Avenue to eastbound I-94 are expected to reopen on or around Monday. Once the ramps at the State Road 912 interchange open, the ramps from eastbound I-94 to Grant Street and from northbound and southbound Grant Street to eastbound I-94 will close.

The ramps from northbound and southbound Burr Street to eastbound I-94 are expected to reopen on or around Thursday. Once the ramps at the Burr Street interchange open, ramps from eastbound I-94 to State Road 53 and from northbound and southbound State Road 53 to eastbound I-94 will close.

This is part of phase 5 of the concrete restoration work occurring along this stretch of interstate, which will continue through late October. Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic configurations and overnight lane closures through late November. All schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.
