A Waukegan pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist Friday, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday.

The coroner’s office identified the victim as Jerry Jackson, 54. Jackson died from blunt force injuries, the coroner’s office said.

Authorities said Waukegan police were called to the corner of Lewis and Harding avenues Friday at about 8:05 p.m. after being alerted to the incident.

Jackson was brought to Vista East Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to reports, the woman driving the vehicle that hit Jackson left the scene, but was later charged with fleeing.
