Two people were injured in a shooting Sunday morning on Aurora’s far East Side, according to the Aurora Police Department.

At around 6:08 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Station Boulevard in Aurora, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found two men near a basketball court with gunshot wounds.

The two men were taken by Aurora Fire Department paramedics to local hospitals for treatment, the release said. One of the men, 19, was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries, while the other man, 20, was in critical condition, police said.

The preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was an isolated incident between known acquaintances, the Aurora Police Department said in the news release. A firearm was recovered at the scene, police said.

The Aurora Police Department conducted an active search for Aaron Conley, 24, of Aurora, in connection with the shooting, the release said.

Conley was taken into custody after turning himself in at the Aurora police station in the early hours of Monday morning, according to the police department.

Conley has since been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, according to a news release Monday from the Aurora Police Department. He is set to appear in court on Aug. 12 at the DuPage County Courthouse.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, the police department said, encouraging anyone with information to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division at 630- 256-5500.
