Two Post-Tribune reporters and one editor brought home awards from the Indiana Pro Chapter banquet Friday night — including two first-place prizes.

Staff writer Alexandra Kukulka grabbed a top honor in the Breaking News category for her story, “Indiana redistricting bill fails in Senate,” while Senior Content Editor Amy Lavalley won first place in the Coverage of Children’s Issues category for “One year after child’s death, family struggles,” about the aftermath of Dakota “Levi” Stevens’ death at the hands of his foster mother in 2024.

Freelance reporter and former Post-Tribune editor Carole Carlson also brought home a third place award in the Coverage of Children’s Issues category for “Indiana’s Child Care Cuts Take Toll on most vulnerable families,” a story about state cuts to child care in Gary.

The three awards bring the Post-Tribune’s number of awards to 13 over the last three years.
