PARK DISTRICT’S SPRING PROGRAM GUIDE RELEASED

Naperville Park District will post its summer program guide on its website Wednesday, April 22, for residents interested in summer camps, fall soccer registration, summertime destinations, special events and other activities.

Among the events planned are Concerts in Your Park, the annual Kite Fly and A Night at the Movies.

Program registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, for residents and at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 30, for nonresidents.

Fall soccer registration begins at noon Tuesday, May 5, for the girls league, Wednesday, May 6, for the boys league and Thursday, May 7, for nonresidents.

Registration for summer camps is ongoing. Centennial Beach memberships are discounted through May 25.

New programs being added for summer include Good Times Day Camp; Camp Get Together; Beginner Quilting Camp; Pottery: Fairy House Building; and Sewing Camp.

DUPAGE DEMOCRATIC, GOP PARTY CHAIRS REELECTED

The chairs of the DuPage County Democratic and Republican parties have been reelected by their respective leadership.

Reid McCollum, chair of the Democratic Party of DuPage County, was given a new two-year term. First Vice Chair Dianne McGuire and Treasurer Ilse Messner also were reelected.

Kevin Coyne, chairman of the DuPage County GOP, will retain his position for the DuPage County Republicans. Jeff Castle was elected as party secretary.

“We have a lot of work to do, but I’m confident that together we can win every single race across DuPage up and down the ballot this fall,” McCollum said in a news release.

In an email message, Coyne said he was honored to be reelected and grateful for the confidence Republicans have placed in him.

“As we look ahead, our focus remains clear: building unity, supporting our candidates and delivering results for voters throughout DuPage County,” his email message said. “There is important work to be done, and I am confident that together we are well-positioned to meet the moment.”

SALAMANDER SATURDAY EVENT PLANNED AT HIDDEN OAKS PRESERVE

Families can learn all about salamanders and meet Hidden Oaks Preserve’s own salamander Ghillie during a free event at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the preserve, 419 Trout Farm Road, Bolingbrook.

Salamander Saturday is an initiative started by the Foundation for the Conservation of Salamanders to raise awareness about the amphibians, their habitats and their role in the ecosystem, according to the Forest Preserve District of Will County.

A naturalist will lead family-friendly activities both inside and outside during the program, which is open to all ages.

GARDEN WALK TO BENEFIT GROW WELLNESS FOUNDATION

The Grow Wellness Foundation is sponsoring the second annual Petals, Ponds and Pathways Garden Walk during which participants can tour private gardens in Naperville while raising funds for mental health.

Tickets are on sale now for the walk, which will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 26, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27. The self-guided walks allows participants to tour at their own pace.

Tickets are $15 if purchased by June 23 or $20 on the day of the event. Children 10 and younger are free.

Proceeds support the Grow Wellness Foundation, a nonprofit that supports local mental wellness efforts and improves access to care, organizers said.
