A 20-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash Saturday afternoon in Oswego, according to the Oswego Police Department.
At around 1:42 p.m. Saturday, Oswego police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Route 34 for a crash involving a motorcycle, the police department said in a news release. En route, dispatchers advised that the motorcyclist was unconscious and receiving CPR.
Upon arrival, police took over medical care until paramedics arrived and took the man, 20, to a local hospital, the police department said. He was later pronounced dead.
According to a preliminary investigation, the crash occurred when the motorcycle, traveling eastbound on Route 34, struck an enclosed trailer being towed by a van, the news release from Oswego police said. The van had also been traveling eastbound and was attempting to turn right into a driveway in the 4000 block of Route 34.
The van’s driver and a passenger were not injured in the crash, police said.
Route 34 was ultimately closed between Wolf’s Crossing Road and Boulder Hill Pass for around four hours while officers conducted crash reconstruction and processed the scene, the news release said. The crash remains under investigation pending the completion of the crash reconstruction report.
The motorcyclist’s identity is not being released pending an autopsy scheduled for Monday, according to the Oswego Police Department.
