Here is a guide to Fourth of July activities across the Northwest Indiana region.

Crown Point

The city of Crown Point will hold its July 4th parade at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crown Point High School, located at 1500 Main St., and end at the tank on Goldsborough Street. NASA astronaut Jerry Ross will be this year’s grand marshal. The fireworks show will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m., at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St.

Gary

The Steel City’s Independence Day parade starts at 5 p.m. on July 2, starting at Froebel Park at 15th and Broadway and ending at Buffington Park, located at 300 E. 6th Ave.

Hebron

Hebron is hosting “Pride in Our Past; Faith in Our Future,” starting with fireworks on July 3 at dusk at the Hebron schools, 307 S. Main St.

Events continue on the Fourth of July with a free pancake breakfast from 7-9 a.m. at Hebron United Methodist Church, 202 West Church St.; the Fireworks 5k Run 7:45 a.m. at Hebron Middle School; a parade at 10 a.m. on Main Street, with a flag raising at the American Legion Memorial at Main and Sigler streets; and a turtle derby at noon in the First Church parking lot, 800 Country Square Plaza.

Highland

Highland’s twilight parade starts at 6:30 p.m. on July 3 at 45th Street and Kennedy Avenue and ends at Main Square Park, 3001 Ridge Road.

Hobart

Hobart’s parade starts at 10 a.m. at Hobart Middle School, located at 36 E. Eighth St., and ends at Cleveland Avenue. Fireworks will go off at dusk, shortly after 9 p.m.

Merrillville

Merrillville’s annual Fourth of July parade starts at 11 a.m. at town hall, located at 7820 Broadway, and proceeds north along Broadway to the Dean and Barbara White Community Center.

Munster

Munster’s Independence Day parade starts at 2 p.m. at Hohman Avenue and Ridge Road and heads east to end at town hall, located at 1005 Ridge Road.

Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. on July 4 at Centennial Park, located at 900 N. Centennial Drive.

Portage

Portage kicks off the holiday with a parade at 10 a.m. on July 4, starting at Portage Mall, heading west on Central Avenue and south on Willowcreek Road and ending at Sunrise Avenue, with a sensory quiet zone for the last block of the parade.

Festivities continue at 5 p.m. at Founders Square, 6300 S. Founders Square, with food trucks, a beer garden, music and fireworks.

Porter

Porter’s festivities, sponsored by the Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club, begin with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m. until noon on July 4 at Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive, followed by the annual Fourth of July Parade that kicks off at 9 a.m. from Yost Elementary School, 100 W. Beam St.

Events continue throughout the day at the park, including games, the turtle derby at 11 a.m., music, a beer garden and food vendors, culminating with fireworks.

Schererville

The community fireworks show starts at dusk — around 9 p.m. — at Rohrman Park, 6750 Rohrman Road.

Valparaiso

Valparaiso’s celebration begins at 5 p.m. on the Fourth of July at Urschel Field, 2706 Valparaiso St., with more than 35 food trucks. The Nashville Electric Company Country Band takes the stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
