Ruth L. Pedersen, of Arlington Heights, IL passed away Oct. 9, 2007.
Beloved wife of husband Nils.
Ruth was born in Sept.
1921 in Gj UNKNOWN_HIGHBIT_c3 UNKNOWN_HIGHBIT_b8 vik, Norway.
She graduated as a registered nurse from Uleval Hospital, Oslo, in 1945.
Ruth joined the Norwegian army, and served two years in Germany.
Thereafter she signed on as a ship’s nurse and served one year on the high seas.
When the Korean conflict arose, she had to choose between Korea and Chicago, and came to Norwegian American Hospital, Chicago, where she worked for 15 years in surgery.
At that point, after riding 3 buses daily from work to home, she decided to look for a position closer to home, and was hired at Reed Medical Center (Dunning) as supervisor of surgical nursing, where she worked until retirement.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, at Norwegian Memorial Lutheran Church “Minnekirken”, 2614 N. Kedzie, Chicago, IL 60647 708- 867-7051.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Minnekirken are appreciated.
