Montgomery is looking to help those who can’t pay their water bill during the pandemic.
The assistance program gives up to a $100 credit on water bills in the village and Boulder Hill to those in need, officials said.
“It is necessary to support and provide assistance to our residents during this difficult and unprecedented time,” said Montgomery Village President Matt Brolley.

The assistance program is designed for residential water customers who request financial relief on utility bills mailed during April.
Up to 9,000 households are eligible for the program and so far, 900 requests have been made, officials said.
Debbie Buchanan, executive assistant with the village, said applying for the program is easy.
“There is no documentation required, people need to email the village or simply call the village,” she said. “People have been very surprised on the phone and said there wasn’t any red tape.”
To request the assistance, Montgomery and Boulder Hill water customers can go to Covid19Assistance@montgomeryvil.org or call 331-212-9020. Village staff members are asking residents to be sure to leave their name, address and phone number when leaving a message about the program.
The village also announced while many meetings and activities have been canceled, plans are still on for the annual Mill Street Bridge flower planting at 9 a.m. May 16. In the event it is canceled village Public Works staff will plant the flowers.
