As long as the NRA dollars are more important than children’s lives, there is no solution to school shootings.
Republicans don’t trust teachers to be trained adequately to select the books they have in their classrooms. Yet they support training for them to have guns.
Why is it that the Republicans have no problem banning books? They do, however have a problem banning guns. I’m sorry, but I think a gun is more likely to harm my child than a book.
It would be laughable if it weren’t so outrageous. The NRA wants guns everywhere — churches, schools, stores libraries, court houses, post offices, and the list goes on and on — except they absolutely do not want them anywhere near where they themselves congregate to hear their right-wing gun fanatic guest speakers preach the religion of guns. As an excuse, they fall back on the claim that it’s not them, but the Secret Service that bans guns in order to protect Donald Trump. And you can be sure that Trump’s will be the biggest mouth and the loudest voice there. If it weren’t for the Secret Service order, the NRA wants us to think that they would welcome thousands of wide-eyed attendees with AR-15 style weapons slung their shoulders.
Of course the Republicans say they will never figure out the solution to gun violence. If your mind is closed to most options, you box yourself into a corner. They should consider all options even if the NRA is opposed.
The question is being asked, “Why don’t younger registered voters vote in larger numbers?” Between the ages of 18 and 25, politics is among their least concern! Young adults at this age level see politics as an ‘old man’s’ domain. Also, young adults are what I call ‘immediate people.’ They focus on a lifestyle and activities that will bring them quick results. They are impatient with the waiting game. The gun control debate can serve as a good example. The young Tennessee legislators were expelled because of their actions during a demand for immediate gun control legislation. To young adults, political action is a turtle. While their mindsets are operating like a jackrabbit! The good news is polls have seen a slight uptick in young adults casting votes because of the school shootings.
The situation with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has become untenable. Texas billionaire and GOP donor Harlan Crow reportedly has been paying for luxurious vacations for Thomas and his wife for over 25 years and Thomas has failed to report any of these gifts as required. Now it has been revealed that Crow purchased the home of Clarence Thomas’ mother while she still lived in it, and renovated it. Thomas failed to report this too. A Supreme Court judge that refuses to abide by the rules is not fit for duty. I wonder if Crow happens to be the mysterious benefactor that paid off Brett Kavanaugh’s mortgage and credit card debts?
Trump had nothing to do with the price of gas falling under $2. It was the COVID-19 pandemic, according to experts, that caused an “unprecedented drop in the demand for fuel.” Just the opposite is happening now. So Trump was no more responsible for the lower gasoline prices than Biden is for the higher ones. Turn off Fox News and join us in the rewal world.
It makes me proud to eat at restaurants where I see a lot of red hats. Red hats are true patriots. Those milking the freebies and too shy about getting a job can still mock the red hats, but I know if they ever took a job they would find out that working for a living is not as bad as the Democrats preach.
Whether it’s t-shirts, flags in the bed of pickups, or billboards in yards, Trumpies see nothing wrong with profanity laced displays of support for their hero. They don’t care that whatever they display is in full view of children, but when it comes to other displays of support, like a Pride flag for instance, they act like it’s the end of humanity. That’s the Republican double standard: whatever they do is fine, anyone else, not so much.
