Argentinian midfielder Federico Higuain has signed a contract extension with Columbus Crew, the club announced Thursday.
Higuain, 33, will be under contract through the 2019 MLS season as a Designated Player.
“In addition to being one of the premier playmakers in MLS, Federico is a model professional who leads by example,” said Crew sporting director and head coach Gregg Berhalter in a statement.
“Federico has consistently performed at a high level for many years now, which is a testament to both his quality and work ethic and so we are pleased to reach a contract extension for the 2019 campaign.”
The Argentinian is currently in his seventh season with Columbus after joining in 2012 from Godoy Cruz. As of Thursday, he has made 171 appearances across all competitions, scoring 52 goals and completing 43 assists.
