What started out as a “death investigation” in Glenview on Monday was reclassified as a homicide on Wednesday, police said.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Fadhil Obeed, of Glenview, police said in a news release on Wednesday. It said Glenview police with assistance from the North Regional Violent Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) are currently investigating leads.

“The Glenview Police Department believes this to be a targeted incident and no known threat to the public exists,” said the release. “There is no further information to release at this time. Further updates will be provided when available.”

On Monday Glenview police responded to a residence in the 700 block of Long Road on a report of an “injured male,” a release from the department said. Obeed was found deceased inside the residence.

Glenview are asking anyone with information regarding the incident, to contact the Glenview Police Tip Line at 847-901-6055.
