More human remains were found Monday in a field near Mokena, just days after skeletal remains discovered in the same field were identified as 35-year-old Terhan F. Gordon, a Joliet man reported missing by his family last July.

The Will County sheriff’s office found the remains Monday after conducting an additional search of the field near Oakwood Drive and Townline Road, according to Elizabeth Matthews, public information officer.

Matthews said the recovered remains were turned over to the coroner’s office for identification. She said there is no other information on the type of remains.

Matthews also said the sheriff’s office does not know if the remains could be identified as Gordon or a different person.

A human skull was found March 24 in the same field. The sheriff’s office conducted a search on March 25 and found more bones. The coroner’s office identified those remains Friday as Gordon.

Joliet police have said Gordon was last seen on June 27, 2025, in the 1500 block of North Broadway Street in Joliet.

Mokena Community Development Director Brent Cann said Wednesday surveyors found the remains while conducting a wetland survey of the property for developer Shawn O’Malley with O’Malley Builders LLC.

Matthews said more than two dozens officers from the criminal investigations, crime scene investigation and Will County Emergency Management Agency search and rescue completed the search Wednesday.
