After a wind advisory expired Wednesday afternoon, officials were eyeing a storm system expected to bring a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain mainly to areas in northern Illinois, officials said.
Snow accumulations were expected to be between 4 to 8 inches near the Wisconsin border and up to an inch south of I-80 and in northwest Indiana.
Slippery conditions could arise in areas along and northwest of I-55 Thursday and Thursday evening.
Earlier Wednesday, officials issued a wind advisory that expired at 1 p.m.
Current conditions at Midway Airport registered at 41 degrees.
